Computer system's ports description :

 Infrared ports : 

1. Communicate with the system without using wires.
2. Devices send out infrared signals that enter the system though the ports.
3. Range up to 6 feet.
4. Infrared ports uses infrared wave to communicate with wireless devices.
5. TV remote work infrared signal. This is the best example for infrared wave.

Serial Port :

1. Send and receive 1 bit of data at a time.
2. It has 9 or 25 pins.
3. Connects devices such as the mouse, modems etc.
4. Maximum cable length is 50 feet.
5. This port is very popular for computer desktop pc now.

Parallel Port :

1. Transmit 8 bits of data at a time.
2. It has 25 pins.
3. Connect devices such as printers, scanners, external hard disk drive etc.
4. It is very popular for old model computers and new also.

USB :

1. Connect up to 127 devices to a single ports.
2. Plug and play support.
3. Maximum cable length is 30 meter . Thus you can connect 5 hubs to the USB.
4. It has 4 pins.
5. USB is a very popular port for computer or technology world now.

Types of Computer

There are four types of computer according to physical size and its works.

1. Micro computer : 

    a) It is a digital computer that works on a micro processor. It used in  offices and homes.
    b) Performs take such as word processing , desktop publishing and accounting.
    c) Example - Desktop, Laptop, Pumptop etc
    d) Advantage - Small size , low cost  and portability
    e) Disadvantage - Low processing speed than other type of computer.
2. Mini Computer :
    a) Known as mid range server

    b) Medium sized multiprocessing and multi user computer
    c) Used by small sized companies.
    d) Advantages : Multiples users can use. And Low cos than Mainframe.
    e) Disadvantages : Large and Bulky
3. Mainframe :
    a) Known as enterprise sever.
    b) Occupies entire rooms or floors.
    c) Used for centralizes computing.
    d) Serve distributed users and small servers in a computing network.
    e) Advantage - Support many users and instructions. And large memory.
    f) Disadvantages - Huge size and expensive.
4. Super Computer :
    a) Fastest and expensive.
    b) Used by applications for molecular chemistry, Nuclear research, weather report and advance 
        physics.
    c) Consist of several computers that work in parallel as a single system.

    d) Advantage - Very fast and speed processing.
    e) Disadvantages - Generate a large amount of heat during operation.
